Microsoft has begun to roll out the ability to play games via Xbox Cloud Gaming on Xbox One or Xbox Series X / S consoles, the company announced last Wednesday. The feature is available with a Game Pass Ultimate subscription and will be available in 25 regions with Brazil first on the list.
The rollout will be first to a subset of Xbox gamers followed by everyone in supported markets over the coming weeks. India does not feature in the list of 25 regions yet. The cloud gaming service was previously made available on the Windows PC through the Xbox App and is already available for Windows and iOS devices through their cloud gaming website.
“This means select games that are currently only playable on Xbox Series X|S, like Recompile, The Medium, and The Riftbreaker, are now playable on your Xbox One with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and cloud gaming,” read a blog post by Catherine Gluckstein, Vice President and Head of Product, Xbox Cloud Gaming.
Microsoft revealed plans for cloud gaming rollout during Gamescom 2021 Xbox stream for this holiday season. “Today you can play Game Pass games from the cloud on your Xbox console. We’re excited that Xbox Cloud Gaming (Beta) is now available on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S consoles with a Game Pass Ultimate subscription.“
The Redmond-based company has confirmed that they will add more next-gen games to their cloud gaming library, with Microsoft Flight Simulator to be made available in early 2022.
Last week, in celebration of Xbox’s 20th anniversary, Microsoft announced the addition of 70+ Xbox 360 and Original Xbox games to the backward compatibility library on both Xbox One and Xbox Series X. This is an update to the backward compatibility program for Xbox after the company put it on hold two years ago.
