Telangana Police take 59 people into custody for gambling inside snooker parlours in Hyderabad

Hyderabad Police’s South Zone Task Force team, on Monday, May 9, raided snooker parlours in Hyderabad and took 59 people into custody for gambling with playing cards. Police seized cash worth Rs 20,600 and the playing cards reported the Indian Express.

After receiving credible information, the South Zone Task Force, along with local Hussaini Alam police, conducted late-night raids at snooker parlours within the limits of Mirchowk, Moghalpura and Bhavani Nagar police stations in the old city.

As many as 21 people were arrested in Mirchowk limits, while 27 people were arrested in Moghalpura and 11 from Bhavani Nagar. A total of 59 members, including 9 people who had organised the games, were taken into custody and handed over to concerned police stations for further action.

Officials raided a card gambling house and found organisers Parwez and Imam along with 7 others. All of them were taken into custody for gambling while playing card games. Authorities seized cash worth Rs 20,600 and playing cards. The seized property along with the accused were handed over to Hussaini Alam police station for further action.

Hyderabad Police on an anti-gambling drive:

Hyderabad police last week arrested Amit Gujarati and his gang accused of running a national level betting syndicate. He has been absconding from the police for the past few years and based on a tip-off the task force police of Hyderabad managed to trace and arrest him.

Earlier in December, the Rachakonda police raided a resort at Keesara on Hyderabad’s outskirts and caught six persons who were found gambling. The police seized Rs. 65,610 cash, five mobile phones, and playing cards from the accused.

Last Diwali, a huge contingent of the Hyderabad Task Force and the Begumpet police raided a Diwali after-party and arrested a businessman, Aravind Agarwal, 55, and booked him for organising a gambling party for several VIPs.

A few days prior to Diwali, The Cyberabad Special Operations Team, raided a farmhouse on the outskirts of Hyderabad and arrested several high profile persons from the state and neighbouring Andhra Pradesh for gambling. The police have seized INR 25 lakh and several high-end cars. The farmhouse is reportedly leased to the Tollywood hero Nagar Shourya family.
