Netflix games became globally available across both iOS and Android earlier this month with a debut lineup that included two “Stranger Things”-themed games and casual games Shooting Hoops, Card Blast, and Teeter (Up!). The streaming company now expanded the game catalog with two more games, including a reboot of Gameloft’s Asphalt Xtreme, which officially shut down this September, and another casual game, Bowling Ballers.
Bowling Ballers is offered by Frosty Pop, which already offers two games on Netlfix, Shooting Hoops and Teeter Up. Like the others, this latest addition is a simple game that’s described as an “endless runner” for bowling, which also includes a level-based mode, as per a report on Tech Crunch.
Asphalt Xtreme, an action racing game was a popular Gameloft title till a few years back. The game had an initial release in October 2016 but was shut down entirely on September 30, 2021. From Oct. 1, 2021, the game was removed from app stores for download. The streaming company then obtained the license for the title from Gameloft to add to its mobile gaming collection.

A few days back, Netflix has hired Scopely’s Amir Rahimi as vice president of game studios. Rahimi will oversee all games that will become available to Netflix members around the world. Rahimi, who was previously president of games at mobile game publisher Scopely, will report to Mike Verdu, vice president of games at Netflix. Verdu, a former Facebook gaming and EA executive was hired in July 2021.
“I am pleased to welcome Amir to Netflix where he will build out our games studio team and content library for Netflix Games,” said Verdu, in a statement. “His extensive experience in the games industry will be key as we look to grow our catalog of games for our members around the world to enjoy.”
