While Baazi Games has built up a formidable online gaming portfolio, poker remains at the heart of its operations. The founders are bullish on poker becoming even more popular in the country in the coming years.

“It (poker) has to be articulated or presented to the consumer properly. There is so much skill in the game. I mean there are so many colleges talking about poker as a mental game. I feel there is so much physical effort that also needs to go in to have your mental game at its peak so I believe this sport, I mean poker can be like a different category of sport in India,” Navkiran Singh told G2G News in an exclusive interview.

Casinos remain one of the major financial contributors in Goa. As per expert estimates, the state government earns around Rs 320 crore each year from license fees from casinos and about Rs 1,000 crore in taxes via allied activities. Goa has six offshore casinos and about a dozen others at hotels, offering numerous employment opportunities for locals apart from generating a considerable amount of revenue for the government.

In an exclusive interview with G2G News, the director of Majestic Pride Casino, Shrinivas Nayak had categorically stated that the casino industry in Goa is an integral and indispensable part of leisure tourism in the state.

He had further emphasized that until and unless the entertainment sector gains pace, the tourism industry in Goa will not regain its previous growth rate.

Last week, Golden Gaming International entered Goa’s high-stakes casino ecosystem with the launch of Casino Golden, an off-shore casino housed at Baga’s LA Calypso Hotel. The news came on the back of Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant’s decision to reopen the casino industry in the state under the new Covid-19 guidelines.
