Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition removed from sale on PC; fans demand refunds amid criticism

Published on:

Rockstar Games which released the remastered GTA editions last week under the title The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition, removed the popular game from its online digital storefront because it rains heavily in the game making it unplayable. Players who bought the remastered collection before the purge have been unable to play the game since the take down.

‘Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition’ is a remastered collection of their classic titles – GTA 3, Vice City, and San Andreas. The games are touted to provide visual enhancements for a new generation such as lighting and environmental upgrades, high-resolution textures, increased draw distances, and optimized controls and targeting similar to Grand Theft Auto V. However, going by the criticism online, they have abysmally failed on all the aforementioned fronts.

Post its launch on PC, many players noticed bizarre changes who took to twitter to express their disgruntlement over the quality of the remasters.

Players cited poorly rendered graphics, broken textures, invisible bridges, typos on city signs, missing music, and heavy rainfall that obstructed the visuals around CJ in ‘GTA: San Andreas.’

Rockstar decision to temporarily disable their PC client – Rockstar Games Launcher, for maintenance was triggered by ever increasing barrage of complaints from irked fans. While the services resumed now, the GTA Trilogy was absent from their Store page. Players who had managed to buy the game have been unsuccessful at launching the game.

The Rockstar Support Twitter released  an official statement saying that The Definitive Edition will be unable to play or purchase as they continue to remove files that were unintentionally included in the PC version. “We’re sorry for the disruption and hope to have correct ones up soon,” it reads.

It is also worth noting that GTA’s PC version isn’t the only one which is brought with bugs and errors as players on consoles have reported problems regarding the weather effects, character model and other visuals too. Even as we write this, Rockstar is being flooded with refund requests as the Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition backlash is only growing with time.
