Dream11 which was last valued at $8 billion, has seen a phenomenal increase in profit margin for the financial year 2020-21. The company which has been an undisputed leader in fantasy sports segment has reported 3X growth at INR 327 crore reported Entrackr. During this year, the Company also acted as the title sponsor of Indian Premier League.
As per reports, Dream11’s revenue from operations grew by 53% to Rs 2,554.4 crore ($340 million) during the fiscal ended in March 2021 as compared to Rs 1,670.2 crore earned in FY20, according to the company’s annual financial statements filed with RoC.
The unicorn claims to have over 120 million users on its platform. Google does not allow real money gaming apps on PlayStore and Dream11 is never listed on Google PlayStore. The company claimed 5 million daily active users by mid FY21.
Dream11 has tried to diversify with other operating segments including bespoke sports travel (Dream Set Go), video game development (Dream Game Studios), sports streaming (FanCode). In FY 2020-21, Dream11 sold sports jerseys and related merchandise worth Rs 1.2 crore whereas another Rs 1.2 crore came from its travel vertical.
The fantasy gaming company also generated Rs 8.24 crore from subscriptions and Rs 154.03 crore from its financial assets during FY21.
For the financial year ending March 2020, the company posted a profit of Rs 180.8 crore. The company's operational revenue jumped to Rs 2,070.4 crore in FY20, from Rs 775.5 crore in FY19. The company's founders were recently booked by Bengaluru Police under the state's online gambling law that came into effect on October 5. This case was later quashed by the High Court.
In August 2021, Dream Capital launched a $250 million venture capital fund. Dream Capital has a portfolio of 10 early-stage startups which includes Fittr, SoStronk, KheloMore, and Elevar.
